The on hand selection rocks but my God do they need help finding and training decent employees. If I want to talk to a guy at a gun counter who’s clueless about guns I’ll go to Bi-Mart or Fred Meyer. I expect more from Cabela’s. Ammo prices are higher than most others as are their firearms.
If the owner of this site is reading these reveiws you should add their new Tualatin location to the map.
Love Cabela’s. They are not always the cheapest, nor do they have everything you might want, but they are close. Customer service has always been outstanding, and I really enjoy browsing the store.
I live about a mile from the Tualatin store and have always been able to find what I need. Cabela’s has a reputation of being very expensive but I was delighted to find TWO S&W Model 34 revolvers on sale last November. They had both round & square butt models and I should have bought both of them but only bought the RB. For a gun made in 1982 it’s in nearly perfect condition and the price was at least $250 less than what was listed on Gun Broker.
Watch for their sales. I shop online and have the products delivered to the store to avoid shipping charges and have purchased high quality clothes for a fraction of what they sell for in the store. I also got a Cabela’s VISA card and when I was approved I got a $50 credit plus I earn points for each dollar I spend. Customer service has always been excellent but I normally know exactly what I want so I don’t need to ask a lot of questions. They’re sort of the Nordstrom’s of sporting goods and that’s a good thing.
I love the store; there are lots of advantages to shopping there (like price matching and free shipping to the store)….. I have “black” status…..But too many non-service dogs are being allowed (actually welcomed) in the store; state law is NOT being followed/enforced.
It would be nice to shop without worrying about stepping in dog poo or urin, being bitten, or having my crotch sniffed, and accosted for voicing my disapproval….but hey, this is the Portland metro area where dogs have more rights than conservative males…..
Seeing the employees loving-up the dogs while I wait in line…put me over the edge.
Shopping or walking through the isles seems to inturrupt the personal conversations between the older employees.

Yep, I keep an eye on the comments and reviews. :)
Thanks for the reminder…I’ll add the new location now.
