Seeking Forum Moderators

Got some free time and like to chat online? Within the next 30 days, Oregun Shooters will be launching our vBulletin based discussion forums and we’re gonna need some help getting it off the ground. Building a successful forum is a TON of work and although I’m willing to put in the overtime to make it happen, I’ll definitely need the support of a couple strong moderators to help fuel the discussions and keep the place running smooth.

Moderators don’t need to be online 24/7 but would still need to keep a vigilant eye on discussions and more importantly, help create conversation by starting intriguing threads and generating overall interest in the forums. This is not a paid gig or any sort of a job offer although it will have it’s perks. (special events, SHOT Show passes etc…) It’s an opportunity for socially apt people to get involved in promoting the shooting sports in Oregon and help build a state wide community of firearms enthusiasts. I’m not looking for people who will make 1 post every day or two but rather those who want to take an active role in jump starting this new project.

With the current gun policies of social networks like Facebook, an independent place for firearms discussions that represent residents from the state of Oregon is needed. In time and with your help, WE will be that community!

Politics? Yeah, there’s a political section and I’m sure it will get heated in there. For the most part, not a lot of moderation will be done in this area. MANY firearm forums proudly support the 2nd Amendment while forgetting about the first. That’s not going to happen here. The forum will also be automatically pulling Oregon Firearms Federation Alerts and creating discussion threads for each as OFF releases them.

This is your chance to get in on the ground floor of what I expect to become a very strong community. It’s going to take a lot of time to get the word out and generate interest but it can and will be done!

Want in as a Mod? Please hit me up though the Contact page and lets discuss it!

Hey, I’d be glad to help. I currently run a major national AK page with lots of oregon members. Also did some moderating on AKfiles.

Been Moderator/Admin at ExC for better than a decade.
Busy place that mixes religion and politics with usual explosive results.
Keep the Community on target as necessary, remove the few troublemakers that
show up, generally keep the peace on the Boards.

Handle there is “nivek” or “SkipNChurch”.

Live in Umatilla. One of the vocal pain the ass to the Man and State out my way,
NRA Cert’d Instructor, shooter, part time gunsmith. Retired medically, quite computer and software literate. Own and rescue Protective Breed dogs, Title II arms, hang out at Subguns dot com.

Merciless to idiots and spastics who have to come into an area and f*ck things up.
Consider Admin/Mod work much like a Peace Officers work, generally out of sight until needed.

Please accept this request as being my interest in your website, we talked at the Hillsboro gun show Saturday. You gave me a couple of stickers and I left a couple of bucks to pay for them. If Kevin says join He thinks this is a good organization to join, and that is enough for me. JWoods

I’m excited to see this go. I appreciate that you don’t see the need for heavy moderation.

It is good to see this happening. Please accept me as a candidate for moderator. I have plenty of experience moderating my own group on Facebook and other social media networks. Also, as an internet radio show host, I am forced to play moderator when things get heated on the show.

I love your Ts and stickers, but keep my vehicles sanitized to keep a low profile. No point in becoming a target. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the compliment Bob. Keeping a low profile is actually why we created the 2A stickers. Most non-gun people don’t get the 2A reference. It’s actually a bit surprising to me that many firearm supporters ask what the 2A stands for. When we tell them “Second Amendment” you can see the lights come on and they feel a bit silly for not knowing. ;)
